Reading the Oil Viscosity Ratings

Oil viscosity ratings have two numbers and the letter W. The first number before the W is the cold rating and the number after the W is the hot rating. High viscosity oils are thick and pour slowly. Thin oils flow easily. Cold weather starts need a thin oil that can quickly lubricate the cold engine. Hot weather needs thick oil. In the heat, oil tends to thin, and thick oils will guarantee protection when the engine is warm.

Indian Trail-area drivers know that engines need oil protection from the moment they turn the key. It is essential to get the right oil viscosity for the type of vehicle and the weather conditions.

At Metro Honda, we understand that getting the right oil is essential to keeping your autos in top shape. We have the right oil for your vehicle. Please call or drop by our location for oil service today.
